Beef and Vegetable Stir-fry Sandra Lee

Beef and Veggie Stir Fry

Please use hyper link to see where Kat got this reciepe:

Cook Time: 10 mins // Level: Easy // Serves: 6

Ingredients
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1/2 pound boneless top sirloin steak, thinly sliced into bite-size pieces

(we used thinly sliced veal instead...it was awesome)
1/2 cup sliced onion

(we just used half an onion)
1 tablespoon minced garlic

(we used 2 cloves)
1 tablespoon minced ginger

(we didn't use any)
1 (12-ounce) bag fresh mixed vegetables stir-fry medley

(replaced with: asparagus, snow peas, carrots)
1 (6-ounce) pack sliced mushrooms

(gloria hates mushrooms so we didn't use any, Kat was sad)
1 (8-ounce) can water chestnuts

(we don't know what these are so we didn't use any)
1 red bell pepper, sliced into strips
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

(we used a big pinch)
1 pack stir-fry seasoning mix
Steamed instant white rice, for serving

(we like noodles better, so we got one of those instant chow mien (sp?) kind instead)

Directions
In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of oil over high heat. Add the beef and stir-fry for about 3 minutes.

Remove beef and reserve.

To the same wok, add the remaining oil and saute the onions, garlic, and ginger.

Add the stir-fry vegetable medley, mushrooms, water chestnuts, and red bell peppers.

Stir-fry for about 3 minutes and return the beef to the wok.

Stirring constantly, add the oyster sauce and crushed red pepper flakes. In a small bowl, whisk the stir-fry seasoning mix with 1/8 cup water until combined.

Add the seasoning mixture to the wok and stir for another 3 minutes.

Serve with steamed instant white rice. (But noodles are better....so...yeah)

Again I'd like to thank my co-host Glo, Sonia (aka S-master) for being our special guest.

But most importantly thank you to Glo's family (Nic and Glo's Dad) for letting us mess up his Kitchen and interupt HIS meal so we could drink wine and make stir fry

Welcome!

On Wednesday, September 8 2010 the following conversation took place...

Kat: Why are all the places we're going to close down just as we get there?!

Glo: Probably because it's a week night and things close early?

Kat: Oh....that sucks.

~ Pause ~

Kat : I have an idea! Glo, why don't we go to your place and make something to eat?

Glo: What?! No, that's not a good idea.

Kat: Why? Where else would we go

Glo: What do I look like? Your boyfriend? My place is boring besides I don't have food at my place and neither of us can cook...so...

Kat: Let's just get a frozen pizza and a bottle of wine or something and we can watch bad tv and just chill.

Glo: ~looking at Kat like she's nuts~

Kat: Fine, never mind ~looks down like an injured puppy~

Later, Kat recieved this message via Facebook:

so i was thinking about the suggestion you made the other night about getting some stuff an cooking.. and i was thinking how we are both left handed when it comes to cooking..or at least i know i am.. so it might actually be good.. we can learn to cook together that way, when we have to cook for our 'families' sometime in the future we have an idea.. i was thinking maybe once a week or once everyother week we get together at either your place or mine, pick a new recipe and try it out?

YES!!!! AWESOME IDEA!!!! LOL i have to cook for my new job so this would work out lol...I'm so excited I'm going to look for some recipes today! Thanks for the idea! I heart you!

I (Kat), have decided to keep track of our missadventures in the kitchen with this blog. Glo suggested a reciepe book but neither of us have printers that work consistently, so this will have to do for now. If you've come across this blogspot, you must be a friend of ours or we are showing you this because we find it funny.

diclaimer: We don't know how to cook...we are just two chicks hanging out, drinking wine and enjoying life. Feel free to take the reciepes off this blog. They are stolen from other websites anyways....We will try to cite where the original reciepes come from, but unless we state it is our own creation, know you can find it on another site.

Peace!
Kat
